TUPELO – Addie Marie Adams died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at her home. She was born Oct. 26, 1926, to Jim and Addie Adams. She joined New Zion Baptist Church in Saltillo at an early age. She later joined Springhill M.B. Church in Tupelo and remained a faithful member until her health failed. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in Tupelo. She received a bachelor's degree from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., in 1950. She taught school in West Point, Amory, Tupelo and the Chicago Public School System until retiring in 1981. After retiring, she returned to Tupelo and worked many years as a caregiver. She enjoyed cooking and reading.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springhill M.B. Church with the Rev. Clarence Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. N.L. Jones Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include one sister, Eula Brame; three sisters-in-law, Lillie Faye Adams, Jewel Adams and Minnie Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mell Hayes and Canary Croft; and four brothers, Herman, Jimmie, Cornelius and Cassidy.
