Albert Louis "Al" "A.L." Adams was the third child of twelve born to Nicholas Alois and Annie Hattie (Kilhoffer) Adams.

ALBERT L. ADAMS
Sept. 4, 1921 - Apr. 9, 2010

STAYTON - Al, 88, died Friday in Stayton. He was born in Charleston, Arkansas and grew up in Oklahoma. Al married Adella Spitz on November 4, 1941 in Canute, Oklahoma. They moved to Stayton in 1947 and lived here ever since.

He owned and operated construction companies A.L. Adams and Stayton Blacktop. Al enjoyed bird hunting, raising animals, and playing cards.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton.

He is survived by his wife, Adella; children, Jim (Jane), Jerry (Darlene), Bob (Cheryl), Dennis, Ron, Leon (Julie), Terri (Jim) and Renae Adams; son-in-law, Bruce Cooper; brothers, Clarence, Mike, Maurice, and Leo Adams; sister, Teresa Word; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by daughter, Doris (Adams) Cooper; parents, Nick & Annie Adams; brothers, Paul, Bill, Ray and Eugene Nicholas Adams; sisters, Marie Duerr and Rita Garrett.

Recitation of Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Stayton. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Stayton. Contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Santiam Memorial Hospital. Serving the family North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.

(personal note: He also owned/operated Marion-Linn Construction. He spent his later years raising wild birds such as Ring-Neck Pheasant, Quail, Chukar as well as Ducks and Pigeons. Another favorite past-time for him was attending the Woodburn Auction.)
