Arthur was a Chief Steward in the Mercantile Marine. on the S.S. "War Firth" (London). On September 4th, 1918, War Firth, on a voyage from Bilbao to Clyde with general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-53 (Otto von Schrader), 33 miles S3/4W of the Lizard, none of the 10 man crew survived.

Husband of Emily Adams (nee Rowlands), of Carlton House, Malpas Road., Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales.

His son, Driver Arthur Rowland Adams, aged 26, fell in WWII whilst serving in Italy with the Royal Army Service Corps
