Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Frederick and Helen (Hemenway) Adams, she lived in Hartford before moving to Ellington 59 years ago. Prior to her retirement in 1985, Doris was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company for many years. She was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church, and the Ellington Grange.
