According to his pioneer record he was the son of Morgan Addington (born VA) and Jane Mendenhall (born TN). His political affiliation was Republican. It lists his birth in Hayes County, IN and later in Wayne County, IN. Descendants listed are: Vida (Remington) Browny, Etta (Addington) Heyandy, Gladys Remington Newton, Renouth Remington and Mattie Beaugard Johnstone. Oldest Odd Fellow In State Buried

"Alameda, Feb 17 - Absalom M. Addington, father of Thomas M. Addington of this city and oldest Odd Fellow in the state of California was buried this morning at Mountain View Cemetery. Death came to the veteran lodgeman in Los Gatos Saturday.

Addington was born in Indiana in 1824 and came to California while yet a young man. He stopped at Michigan Bar where he went into the pottery business. He was a member of the Consumnes lodge of Odd Fellows, having been affiliated with the organization the past 57 years. Addington was the father of Thomas M. Addington, baggagemaster at the Park Street Depot in this city.

Deceased is survived in addition to his son here, by three other children, Dr. D. M. Addington of Sutter, Cal., C. D. Addington of San Jose and Mrs. Anna B. (Seth) Remington of Los Gatos. It was at the home of the latter that death came to the venerable Odd Fellow."
