Barbara L. Adams, age 84, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Glen Oaks Health Campus following an extended illness. She was born December 1, 1926 in Henry Co., IN, the daughter of Edward and Alma (Catt) Addison.
Barbara had worked at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. She attended Kennard Friends Church where she had taught Sunday School for many years. Barbara loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children: Michael (Vickie) Adams of Alexandria, Steven Adams, Cheryl (Tony) York and Dawnn Adams all of New Castle; five grandchildren: Brian (Amy) Adams of Alexandria, Brent (Ann) Adams of Muncie, Tony York Jr. of New Castle, Michele York of Orlando, FL and Heather Hill of New Castle; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gene Adams in 2007; her parents; and a brother, Gene Addison.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Steve Arnett officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
