Frank G. Addonizio, adored husband, father, father-in law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the age of 88.

Frank was born on July 15, 1921, in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Irvington High School where he was a three sport athlete. He married his high school sweetheart, Marie Cecere, in 1942.

Frank, a lifelong proud American, enlisted in the United States Army and began his service to his country in 1942. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

After his military career, he continued his family's business as a butcher until he returned to government service in the CID and as an Industrial Security Specialist. Frank retired in 1977 from his last assignment as Chief of Industrial Security after 30 years of government services during which time he travelled the world. After retirement from government service, he became Security and Safety Manager World Wide at ITT Federal Electric Corporation, retiring in 1987.

Frank lived in Irvington, New Jersey, before relocating to Middletown, New Jersey, in 1955, where he was an active citizen, community volunteer and faithful communicant at St. Anthony's Church. In 2000, Frank moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where his engaging personality, appreciation of beauty in all forms and generosity of spirit quickly made him a well known fixture in the community. He loved spending time at local sporting events and the Senior Center where he was notorious for his poker playing skills. He will always be remembered for the sparkle in his eye, his warm smile and his inspirational positive attitude.

He served over the years as Scoutmaster Troop 140 Middletown, Judge Advocate, VFW Red Bank, President of the North Shore Beach Club League, was Board Member and President of Shady Oaks Condominium Association, Inc. He was also certified as a CPP (Certified Protection Professional) and certified by the Red Cross as a Swim Meet Official. He was a member of CID (Criminal Investigation Division) Association and ASIS (American Society Industrial Security). In 1967, he was awarded United States Government Meritorious Civilian Service Award and Medal.

Frank was pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Marie; his parents, Mary and Virgilio; and his siblings, Marie, Roslyn and Pat.

He is survived by his son, James of Jackson Township, New Jersey; daughter, Diane, and her husband, Howie Long, of Charlottesville, Virginia; three brothers, Ralph of Forked River, New Jersey, James of Pensacola, Florida, and George of Somerville, New Jersey; and one sister, Jeyne Bubet of Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Frank lives on through his five grandchildren, Chris, Kyle and Howie Long, Jennifer and Nicole Addonizio; and one great-grandson, James Addonizio. He is also well loved by many nieces and nephews.

The family received visitors at the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, New Jersey, Friday, June 11, 2010.

A service to celebrate the life and legacy of Frank was held at St. Anthony's Church in Red Bank, Saturday, June 12, 2010.
