Charles H. Adkins, 76, of Van, WV was called to his Eternal Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2014. He departed peacefully after battling a short illness at Boone Memorial Hospital in Madison, WV.

Charles was born at home in Ethel, WV on November 30, 1937 to the late Herman & Bertha Adkins. He was a disabled coal miner from Eastern Associated's #4 Mine in Wharton, WV. He was a member of Bigson FWB Church and enjoyed spreading the gospel through his music and testimony. He also looked forward to being in attendance at any area revival that was being held.

As we here on earth mourn the loss of a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Charles is having a heavenly reunion with his family members who have gone on before: Parents Herman & Bertha Adkins, Brothers Leroy & Joey Adkins, Sisters Marie Adkins, Cleo Adkins, Jean Boggs, & Thelma Linley.

Those left to cherish his memories are: Children - Daughter Peggy (Larry) Peters of Robinson, Son Johnny (Debbie) Adkins of Van, & Son Harold (Teressa) Adkins of Van; Grandchildren - Julia (Cliffy) Ball of Robinson, Cassey (Joey) Bias of Van, Stephanie (Robbie) Miller of Madison, Crystal (Derrick) Kniceley of Sutton, & John Workman of Van; Siblings – Brother Jimmy (Pat) Adkins of Van, Sister Shirley Lockard of Columbus, OH, & Sister Barbara (Lloyd) Workman of Chattanooga, TN. Charles was also a very proud Papaw to 12 Great-Grandchildren who he loved and adored.

Services will be held at Bigson FWB Church on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 1:00pm with Rev. Phil Rowe officiating, followed by burial at Van Buren Jarrell Cemetery in Bull Creek, WV. Visitation will be at the church on Monday, April 14 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.
