Mr. Adolph G. Adrian, age 90 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Sunday, October 2, 2005, at St. Marys Health Center. Mr. Adrian was born October 31, 1914, in Osage Bend, Mo., the son of Joseph and Margaret Sommers Adrian, both deceased. He was married on January 22, 1943, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Catherine Ruth Cady, who survives at the home. A life long resident of the Jefferson City area, Mr. Adrian graduated from St. Peters High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the 648th Engineering Battalion, that blazed the trail of the Alcan Highway, and made the maps for the McArthur Drive through Japan. After World War II, Mr. Adrian and his brothers started in the materials and quarry business. Later, he served as president of Adrian Materials until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Roy Sone Post 1003; a member of the American Legion, Roscoe Enloe 5; a past member of the Jefferson City Rotary Club; a past president of the Missouri Limestone Producers; a member of the Crushed Stone Assn.; a past board member of the National Limestone Association; and a charter member of the board of directors of Jefferson Bank. He was instrumental in the organization of the Catholic Schools Football Bowl and the the restart of the Jefferson City Babe Ruth League in 1968.

Other survivors include three sons: Glen G. Adrian and his wife Sue of Leawood, Kansas, Joe B. Adrian and his wife Tina of Carl Junction, Mo., and Ron P. Adrian and his wife Marie of Leawood, Kansas; one sister: Marie Parris of Jefferson City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren: Mathew Adrian and wife Claire, Marc Adrian and his wife Angela, Meghan Nicholas and her husband Jeff, Monica Adrian, Mike Adrian and his wife Kara, Joe Adrian, Andrew Adrian, Marty Stewart and her husband Josh, Jonathan Adrian, and Amanda Adrian; 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry Adrian, Robert Adrian and Stanley Adrian; and two sisters, Henrietta Horat and Clara Schnieders.
A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2005, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 1206 East McCarty St., Jefferson City, Mo., with the Reverend Brendan Doyle officiating. Graveside services and entombment with military honors will be conducted at the Mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call at the Immaculate Conception Church from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation or the Helias Foundation.
