ARLINGTON, Aug. 31—The funeral of Mrs. Abbie Ahern, widow of Maurice Ahern, took place this morning at her home, 18 Whittemore St. Services were held in St. Agnes' Church where a solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated, the pastor, Rev. Matthew J. Flaherty, being celebrant Rev. Donald F. Simpson, deacon, and Rev. Joseph Meaney, subdeacon. The service was attended by a large number of relatives and friends, and the esteem in which Mrs. Ahern was held was also shown in a wealth of floral tributes. Music for the service was provided by the church choir. The bearers were Albert, Alfred and Maurice Ahern, grandsons, and Henry Murphy. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Mrs. Ahern was in her 86th year and had lived here practically all her life. Of a pleasing disposition and always ready to give a helping hand, she made friends of the kind that lasted through the many years of her life here. In her early life she was active in the work of St. Agnes parish (then St. Malachi) and this work is now being carried on by the members of her family. Mrs. Ahern is survived by four sons, John J., Daniel F., Maurice P. and Timothy F. Ahern, and two daughters, Miss Nora Ahern and Miss Mary E. Ahern, all of this town.
