Ann Mulloy (aka Mama) passed away late afternoon on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. Born May 6, 1931 in New York City to William Ahern and Mary Foley Ahern, both of County Kerry, Ireland, Ann worked in Manhattan fashion boutiques, and later completed her associate's degree and taught as a substitute teacher. In 1956 she married Navy Officer (later Commander) Charles "Chuck" Mulloy, aka Pop-pop, whom, along with her brother John, daughter Kathy and grandson Cameron, she now joins in Heaven. Surviving her are one brother; four children and 12 unruly grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Though she'd like to believe she passed on to her family a sense of decorum, what she did in fact teach us was generosity, patience and unconditional love. She will very much be missed. A viewing will be held Saturday April 6, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. She will be buried next to her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Sisters of Charity, New York.
