Chico Record, Saturday Morning, September 6, 1919, pg 1 col 4-5: Mrs. Charles U. Aid Dies From Injuries. Mrs. Charles U. Aid, 49 years old, died at the Enloe Hospital at 11 o’clock last night, from a fractured skull and a blood clot on the brain, which were caused when she was thrown from an automobile at Third avenue and Oleander street, Thursday morning.
The accident occurred when J.I. Beers struck the Aid machine broadside, throwing it from the middle of the road to the gutter and turning it over. Mrs. Aid was thrown from the machine and struck on her head on the ground, knocking her unconscious and fracturing her skull at the base. She was rushed to the hospital by Dr. E.L. Meyers. From the time of the accident until her death she did not regain consciousness.
Deceased had resided in Chico a little over a year. An inquest will be held today by Deputy Coroner H.C. Bicknell to determine the cause of her death.
No arrangements have been made for the funeral as yet.
Mrs. Jane Atwater, who was also injured in the collision has recovered sufficiently to enable her to leave the hospital in a few days.

49-year-old Caroline Mary Haggin Aid was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on September 8, 1919.
