EDWARD AITKEN

Edward Aitken, 75, of Misha Mokwa, passed away at Durand May 26 after a long
illness, aged 75 years, seven months, and 23 days. Mrs. Aitken was born Oct 3,
1866, oldest son of Robert and Mary Aitken. He is survived by his wife and four
children: Ruth, Mrs. Ray Carothers, of Cornell; Viola, Mrs. Reno Eagan of
Wausau; Wallace Aitken of Lake City, and Robert Aitken of Misha Mokwa.. Also,
one brother,Alex Aitken, of Holcombe, and a daughter Daisy, four sisters and two
brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Aitken was united in marriage with Drucilla
Lockard of Nelson Sept. 20, 1892. In early life he taught school and later was
engaged in millwork, carpentering and blacksmithing, for a time in partnership
with his brother, Robert. Mr. Aitken served as town treasurer, school officer
and justice of the peace. For many years he was a member of the Modern Woodmen
and Royal Neighbors. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2 o'clock at the
R. N. A. hall at Misha Mokwa, Rev. D.C. Gearhart officiating and burial took
place in Cascade cemetery. The pallbearers were Albert Keenlyne, John Hovland,
Milt Stewart, Wm. Mathis, P.M. Jacobson and Philip Rouser.
