Amos was a son of Christian Albaugh and Catherine Reiner. His siblings were Levi, David, Jeremiah, Mary Ann and William.

AMOS ALBAUGH --- Christian Albaugh, the father of Amos, came from Frederick County, Maryland, in 1810, and located on the same section with the Leas family east of Salem. Married Catherine and reared a family of nine children, of whom Amos was the eighth, born December 22, 1823; married Miss L. E. Blackburn in 1852; two children -- Amanda J. and Celia A. Christian Albaugh was a soldier in the War of 1812.

In the 1860 census taken July 20, Amos was living in Richmond, Salem Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio, his his parents.

In the 1870 census Amos was living in Salem Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio. He was listed as a Farmer age 46 born in Ohio, his wife Louisa E. age 38 born in Ohio, daughter Selah A. (Celia) age 13 born in Ohio. His farm was valued at 10,250 dollars. There was a Jacob Burchfield age 43 born in Ohio living with him, he was listed as Farm Laborer.

In the 1880 census taken June 9, Amos was still living in Salem Twp., Jefferson County, Ohio. He was listed as a Farmer age 56 born in Ohio, his wife Louisa W. age 48 born in Ohio. Also living with him was his daughter Celia A. age 23, and her husband Joseph A. Rutledge age 26 born in Ohio, and there daughter Clara B. Rutledge age 1 born in Ohio. It listed Joseph as a farmer.

In the 1900 census record Amos was living with his wife in Salem Township, Jefferson County, Ohio. Amos was listed as age 76 born December 1823 in Ohio, his wife Louisa E. age 70 born September 1829 in Ohio.

According to the Jefferson County, Ohio death records, Vol.2, page 406, Amos was married, and a farmer, he was born in Salem Township, and died November 9, 1903 at the age of 79 years, 10 months & 17 days of old age.
