In 1880, Lucy was working in a woolen mill in Ludlow, Vermont with her two older brothers and older sister. This was most likely the Ludlow Woolen Company, where workers procssed wool from raw fiber into finished cloth. The 1880 census lists her age as 15. However, other records indicate she may have been 13 or 14.
On September 14, 1891, Lucy married Silas C Albee in Burlington, Chittenden, Vermont. Lucy was living in Burlington at the time of the wedding, possibly with her sister Anna. By 1900, the couple was living in Keene, Cheshire, New Hampshire. Their daughter, Irene M, was born about 1906.
After Silas passed away in 1912, Lucy owned and ran a rooming house in Keene. Her sister, Anna, was also living with her.
