She was born October 8, 1926, in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of George R. and Elsie (Zemke) Gillespie.
On August 10, 1946 in Ann Arbor, MI she married Duane F. Alber and he survives. Barbara was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.
Survivors include one son Ronald H. (Carolyn S.) Alber, daughters Bonnie Linder, Kathy (Ray) Taphouse, daughter-in-law Linda Alber, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; Esther Craig, Sara Bandrofchaf, Evelyn Belleau, and Jean Bradbury. She was also preceded in death by one brother George Gillespie, one daughter Connie Stenke, two granddaughters Ann and Brenda Stenke, and two son-in-laws, Larry Stenke, and Ray Linder.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Robison-Bahnmiller Funeral Home in Saline, with Rev. Clark Cothern, officiating. Burial will take place following the service at the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home where friends may begin calling on Thursday, August 18, 2011, between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. and at the funeral home on Friday, August 19, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. until time of the service at 11:00 A.M.
