Eugene Benny Alchesay died Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Whiteriver Indian Hospital in Whiteriver, Navajo County, Arizona at the age of 47.

He was born on July 15, 1965 in Whiteriver, Arizona to his parents, the late Denny and Marie (Caddo) Alchesay.

Eugene was one of those individuals who loved life and found joy in just about everything he did and lived accordingly. First and foremost, he loved playing with his grandkids. They loved it whenever he would tease and joke with them. He was known for his great sense of humor and could make anybody laugh by looking cross-eyed and glancing his smile. He truly had a great attitude about life. Eugene liked to stay busy working whenever he was able.

He was a long-time janitor for the U.S. Government and, when he wasn't working, he enjoyed helping his friends in their time of need. He was always up and doing something and never being one to sit idle, Eugene could always find an outdoor activity to keep his time occupied. He loved to go fishing, hunting, cutting wood and, generally anything outside. This devoted husband, loving father and doting grandfather was loved by all and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Alchesay; 3 daughters: Eugenia Alchesay, Chanelle Cheney, Flora Curley; 4 brothers: Wilbert Skidmore, Gilbert Skidmore, Minor Skidmore, Jerry Riley, Jr.; 2 sisters: Norma Zahgotah, Leona Riley; 8 grandchildren: Jon Cheney, Jr., Ashlynn Alchesay, Jonelle Cheney, Keiara Curley, Tierra Curley, Kyrin Curley, Samira Haven, Heath Haven; goddaughter, Meisha Moody; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Filbert Skidmore and Crispen Alchesay.

A two-day wake will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Alchesay family home, 5516 E. 54th Street in Whiteriver, Arizona.

The funeral service will begin 1:00 P.M., Monday, December 10, 2012 at the North Fork Miracle Church in North Fork, Arizona where Pastor Lex Baha will officiate.

The conluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Golden Gorge Cemetery in North Fork, Arizona.
