May 29, 1895
Mrs. Addison Alcott, mother of Mrs. John Herring, died at the residence of her son in law Wednesday evening. She had reached a ripe old age, being nearly 80 years old, and her deceased was due to the running down of the sands of life. Mrs. Alcott has been a resident of Boone for many years and was well known to the early settlers. Of late years, especially since the death of her husband, she has led a quiet and secluded life, patiently waiting the summons to join him in the land beyond. She passed away sincerely mourned by those that knew her, full of years and honor. The funeral took place from the Universalist church Friday afternoon.
