ABSOLY WESTBROOK was the 2nd daughter born to Moses Westbrook, Jr. and Martha Lawrence Allen, of Lenoir Co., NC. The family moved to Marengo Co., AL between 1830 and 1836.

According to the Westbrook Family Bible, Absoly’s parents had 13 children:

6. Absoly b. 1823, 1st wife of James F. Aldridge m. 1836, died before 1848.

Absoly became the 1st wife of plantation owner James F. Aldridge on November 21, 1836 in Marengo Co., AL. Absoly and James had one son, James Lemuel Aldridge, born 1840. During their marriage, her husband owned at least 18 Slaves.

Absoly died between 1840 and 1848.
After her death, her husband married her sister, Priscilla Westbrook in 1848. After the death of Priscilla, James married Mary Williams.

In his 1860 Will, her father left $750 to “heir of my deceased daughter, Absoly Aldridge, James L. Aldridge”.

Absoly’s son, and four of her bothers, fought with the Confederacy during the Civil War.

Absoly has no descendants, her son James never married.

Absoly was the granddaughter of Moses Westbrook, Sr., Soldier of the Revolution in the North Carolina Militia, and his wife Pearcy Young.
