MARTINEZ, Ga. - Charlotte H. Alexander, age 77, of Martinez, passed away Sunday evening, May 11, 2003 at St. Joseph Hospital. A native of Dublin, GA she had resided in Augusta since her husbands discharge from the U.S.A.F. in 1953; moving here from Marane Air Base, Tucson, Arizona. Before her marriage, she graduated from the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, and taught school in the South Carolina Public School System. After her marriage to Charles T. Alexander, II, she became a loving mother to their three daughters and two sons. She had volunteered at University Hospital during the 1970s and 80s making hand held stuffed animals for the hospitalized children and had been a participant with the Meals on Wheels program. Mrs. Alexander was a longtime member of St. Marks United Methodist Church where she was a member of Mrs. Parkers Bible Study Class and the Tuesday Girls of St. Marks. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles T. Alexander, II, who passed away in January of 2003 And a sister Annette Callahan, who passed away in 1988. She is survived by three daughters, Paula Alexander McCullers, Marietta, Lynn Alexander Day, Lafayette, Indiana, Carol Alexander Batemen, Martinez, two sons, Charles T. Chuck Alexander, III, Martinez, Ward Augustus Alexander, Kennesaw, one sister, Margarette Chappell, Dublin, one brother, Charles Hodges, Valdosta, eight grandchildren, Travis, Alec, Christopher, Andrea, Lewis, Carly, Heather and Jordan, and two great-grandchildren, Arlyn and Trent.
