Lois Alexander Aigner, one of the brightest lights on our Eastern Shore, has finally joined her husband, Capt. Ed Aigner, in paradise. Born Lois Virginia Alexander, September 14, 1922, in Sandston Va. She is survived by her wonderful family; brothers, Wilmarth "Aleck" Alexander and Robert Chamberlain Alexander of Richmond, VA and sister Doris Alexander Starr of Sandston, VA. Lois dated and fell in love with a handsome young man named Charles Edward Aigner Jr. They soon married July 4, 1942. Lois traveled in support of her husband and Country during WWII. She and Edward shared 62 years of marital happiness. Lois leaves behind four sons, Charles E. Aigner III of Seaview, William Everett Aigner of Wachapreague, John David Aigner of Locustville, and Jay Randolph Aigner of Quinton, VA, seventeen grand children and fifteen great-grand children. Lois remains a great inspiration to all that were fortunate enough to know her. Her husband (Capt. Ed) was well known for his fishing but "Nana" was better known to her grandchildren for the "best hugs and back scratches". Lois was also known for making wonderful glazed pecans and pecan pie. She spent every Sunday serving coffee and homemade desserts after services at Powelton Presbyterian Church where she and Capt. Ed were members for over twenty years. Lois had a gentle spirit and infectious laugh that would make your heart smile. She collected friends like flowers, cherishing and caring for each friendship yet always having room for one more in her garden of love. Lois wanted to thank each and every person for the prayers, food, candy, and flowers, but especially the visits that she cherished so greatly. The "Queen Mother" of Wachapreague leaves us with an enormous void in our family and community, but her loving memory will always be a tender thought away. Family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Onancock Friday, January 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at The Wachapreague Cemetery Saturday, January 27 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, VA 23421. A special thank you to Jessica Shelley, our hospice angel. Memory tributes may be sent to the family at www.williamsfuneralhomes.com.
