Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL—Monday, 8 February 2010

Alford, Edward B. Sr., "Snookie," celebrated his 64th birthday by going home to be with his Lord. He was born on February 6, 1926 and was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County.

Services will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church in Grady, AL with his friend and Pastor, Chuck Francisco officiating. Burial will follow in Ramer Cemetery….

Snookie was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Madis Alford. He was Snookie to his friends and relatives, but he was our Pop.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law Ed and Tommi Lee Alford of Montgomery, AL. Grandchildren: Matt Alford of Wetumpka, AL., Lynn Caples (Blaine) of Denton, TX, and Tom Vandevender of Ashville, NC. Greatgrandchildren, Tanner and Trevor Caples. Brothers, Bob Alford (Mildred) of Opelika, AL and Jimmy Alford (Mad-elyn) of Montgomery, AL and sisters, Lillian Duffell of Ramer, AL and Joyce (Jim) of Crestview, FL. One brother in law, Bill Garner of Grady, AL and two special sisters in law, Mary Alford of Montgomery, AL and Betty Jean Moore (A.V.) of Letohatchee, AL.

Snookie retired from the Montgomery County Engineering Department in 1989 with over 39 years of service. He was the "official greeter" at Friendship Baptist Church where he was an active member for 26 years.

Pallbearers will be Larry Menefee, Sonny Mills, Dale Tidwell, Mark Weeks, Keith Weston and Richard Wilhoite. Honorary Pallbearers will be Snookie's "breakfast buddies" at Bob's Caf in Ramer and his "domino buddies" at John Knox Towers….
