ALFORD, Mary Horn, 92, of Montgomery, AL and formerly of Luverne, AL, passed away on Wednesday, December 07, 2011, after an extended illness. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Glen) Spivey, of Montgomery, AL, and son, Ken (Cynthia) Alford of Valdosta, GA; and grandsons, Matt (Morgan) Spivey, Mark (Kristina) Spivey of Mobile, AL; and Andrew Alford of Valdosta, GA; granddaughter, Elizabeth Alford, of Valdosta, GA. Mrs. Alford is also survived by two great grandsons, Hudson and Micah Spivey of Mobile, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. D. (Boots) Alford, her siblings, and a host of family and friends. She was a long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Alford taught elementary school in her early years and then worked for many years in the State of Alabama Senate office. Celebration of Life service will be held Sat., Dec 10, at 2pm at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 8pm and Sat. one hour prior to the service at the church. A special thank you to Crowne Health Care staff, Adrienne Eiland, Teresa Pruit, and Gail Cannon for their loving care.
