FRANK ALIBERTI

Frank Aliberti, a resident of Long Eddy, NY, since 1982, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Suffern, NY. He was 86.

Born June 20, 1922 in Brooklyn, he was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brooklyn, and lived most of his life in Canarsie, Brooklyn.

Frank was a decorated World War II combat veteran, who battled in Central Europe, and served his country until 1946.

A family statement reads:
“Frank was a gentle and compassionate man who loved to garden, take care of his home, and enjoyed his retirement in the countryside with his wife. Loved by all who knew him, he will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Friends and family will forever hold a special place in their hearts for Frank, and his grandchildren will always love ‘Poppy Frank’.”

Survivors include his wife Audrey of Long Eddy; daughter Marion of Brooklyn; son Frank and wife Susan of Ridge, NY; brothers Sam and his wife Marion of New Jersey, John of Staten Island, Joseph and wife Gemma of Long Island, Benny and wife Rose of Staten Island; brother-in-law Louie of Staton Island; stepdaughter Arline Arnold of Tucson, AZ; stepsons Ron Arnold of Queens, Arther Arnold and wife Sara of New York, NY, Jeffrey Arnold and wife Helen of Plainview, NY, Alan Arnold and wife Deborah of Long Eddy; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many loving friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Minnie, in 1959; and sisters Mary and Anna.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 14, at Chapey & Son Funeral Home, Bethpage, NY. A military service followed at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
