OBITUARY FOR ALBERT ALLEE:
Albert Allee was born in New York state in 1830 and there he grew to manhood. Later moving to Ohio. On the call to arms in 1861 he enlisted in the 42nd Regiment of Illinois Infantry and made a good record as a soldier. In the spring of 1866 he set out wiht his family for Minnesota, and was attracted to Reynolds township by what he considered its superior advantages, in soil meadow lands and timber, writing back to his brother Daniel, his impressions of this region. Daniel and his family arrived late in the fall, and both families spent the winter in one small cabin. Today, 13 people in one small cabin would be considered enough, but no one worried over such trifles in those days. In the spring, Daniel and his family moved into their own house.
About 1882 Albert's wife, Lucinda, died leaving him wiith a number of small children at a time when a Mother's care is most desired. On May 29, 1884 he married Sarah Houston. To his first marriage were born the follwoing named children: Emery, Editha, Eva, Elsa, Walter, Louis and Ella Bertha. Mr. Allee sold his farm and lived for some years in Cass county, making occasional visits to his old friends at Reynolds and Long Prairei. The last time the writer saw him was on one of those visits, when he was beyond his 90th birthday but still as spry and vigorous as most men 60. Albert had been a familiar figure in Todd county affairs for a half-century.

Elsie, who was my great Aunt revealed that Albert's father, Walter, made mens cloaks. When it was no longer fashionable for men to wear cloaks he began making them for the Clergy.
Albert and his brother Daniel went down the St. Lawrence river selling the cloaks to clergy and choirs. They later decided to go separate ways. Albert went to the Northwest Territory wich included Minnesota and Illinois. We are not sure where Daniel went, but possibly to Ohio. Along the way Albert met and married Lucinda. (Note from M.King: Lucinda's father, Enoch Sargent was a preacher and married the couple).
On August 10, 1861, Albert joined the Army at Kankakee, Illinois, as a private in Company "D" "42" Regement, and was reported on enrollment until October 1, 1861. From then until his discharge on June 16, 1862 he was reported present, buy ill. He was discharged at Louisville, Ky on disability. His military description shows hiim as five feet eight inches tall, with dark eyes, and browen hair. His occupaiton was a blacksmith. However, he is believed to have owned a lumber yard in either Long Prairie or Park Rapids, Minnesota. He also homesteaded a place in Emmaville, Minnesota, but nothing remains on that property, and it has reverted back to its original condition. Lucinda died December 19, 1882 at age 55, and is buried at Long Prairie, Minnesota. She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery near the fairgrounds. Her son Walter is buried there also.
In 1884 Albert married a widow, Sarah Houston who was the mother of fourteen children. Apparently both had several children at home when they were married. When he was over seventy in 1898 he found it impossible to support his wife, and she made her home with her children.
When Albert was over ninety he boarded a train and left Minnesota, he went to Selah, Washington where he spent his rmaining years in the home of his youngest child Ella Partlow. On February 22, 1922 he died at age of ninety-four. He is buried at the Tohma Cemetery in Yakima, Washington.
