A Gift of Life, Mary Elizabeth (Wilkins) Allen was born on October 13, 1919 to Christopher Columbus, and Daisy Eaton Wilkins, in Littleton, North Carolina.
In the early 1940's Mary relocated to Paterson, New Jersey, where she met and later married the late John Allen.
Having been raised in a Christian home, Mary joined Gilmore Memorial Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, where she continued her Christian journey for well over fifty (50) years. Faithfully, she attended Prayer services, Sunday School, Sunday Worship services. She served on the Choir, Pastor's Aid Auxiliary, and Floral Club.
Traveling through the Tri-State, Mary sang with the Starlight Gospel Singers, and the Davis Gospel Singers.
Mary was employed by Curtis-Wright for many years. After retiring, she worked for a number of years as a Home Health Aide.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband, John Allen; and five siblings, Raymond, Bernard, Lois, Eunice, and Lucy.
Loving memories of Mary will be cherished by: her nieces, nephews, cousins, and sister-in-law, Victoria Allen Anderson, special great nephew and niece Ronald (Ronnie) Hicks, and Theresa Hicks Mims, who took care of her in her later years.
