The End of a Busy Life
Aylmer Allen. Born in Bellevue, Iowa Feb. 2nd 1845; died May 20th, 1916, at the home of his daughter in New York. He came to Placerville in 1863 with his father (H.S. Allen, the old gunsmith, of the Plaza) and after two years he went back, returning fifty years later, to see the old place and his sister, whom he had not met in all that time. He found no one to greet him. With old age and failing health, he left here in April to visit his daughter and family, where in less than four weeks he passed peacefully away. He leaves two sisters here, Mrs. Ruth Van Voorhies of San Francisco and the undersigned who wishes in this item to thank all those who in any way contributed to his comfort in the few months he was here, especially Dr. Rantz and his associates at the Sanatorium. Mrs. Clara A Hogan, Harvey Al Hogan.
