Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend, Alice Richards Allen "Allie", age 95, died of Natural Causes, at home, Friday, March 29, 2002.

She was born March 17, 1907 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Irene Smith Merrill and Stephen L Richards. She married Jesse Knight Allen, of Provo, September 10, 1928 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died August 24, 1990.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints, serving as Ward Relief Society president, Primary counselor, and Sunday School teacher. She graduated from LDS High School, and attended BYU and University of Utah. Always an avid reader, she kept abreast of current events, science, biographies, literature, poetry, humor, music and art. She liked to sew. As a young ballet dancer, she performed on the stage of the old Salt Lake Theater.

"Allie" and Knight moved to Palo Alto, California in 1933, and remained active members of the Palo Alto Ward to the end. They regularly attended cultural events, traveled throughout the US and Europe, belonged to various social clubs and discussion groups, shared a love of nature. On their 50th wedding anniversary, they bought a chalet in Midway, Utah, where family and friends gathered together for many happy times.

Vibrant and social, she gave beautiful parties to celebrate all occasions. A traditional homemaker, her greatest love was her family and home.

She is survived by children: Daniel R. Allen, Paradise, CA; Thomas K. Allen, Palo Alto; Irene Allen Jensen, Salt Lake; grandchildren: Daniel K. Allen and Beth, Laura A. Edvalson and "Woody", North Bend, WA; Michael G. Jensen, Joseph A. Jensen, Nancy I. Jensen, Salt Lake; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Philip L Richards. Preceded in death by husband, parents, daughter-in-law Betsy V. Allen, four sisters, three brothers.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 1:00 p.m., at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive. Viewing at 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services.
Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
REST IN ETERNAL PEACE.
