Graveside services for Charles B, Allen, 70, of 101 Walnut St., a former
Anaconda Brass official who founded the Campership Fund and was active in
Republican politics, were held Sunday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. in Center Cemetery,
New Milford. The husband of Maria (Randall) Allen, Mr. Allen died Thursday, Dec.
20, at Waterbury Hospital after a short
illness, Mr. Allen was born April 10, 1914, in Kenosha, Wisc, son of the late
George and Alice (Randall) Allen, He graduated from Culver Military "Academy,
and Yale and Columbia universities, He retired as director of finance of the
Anaconda American Brass Co.

He became associated with the brass company as assistant secretary
of Kenosha Brass in 1941, later becoming chief statistician and budget director.
Previously, he was a certified public accountant in New York State. Mr. Allen
served with the U.S. 8th Army in the Southwest Pacific, and was awarded the Air
Medal and Bronze Star. He remained
in active service for 15 years after the war as commanding officer of a reserve
battalion. He subsequently retired as a lieutenant colonel of field Artillery.
During the Korean War, he was loaned to the Department of. Commerce to allocate
copper supplies,

He was past president of the Waterbury Chapter of the National Accountants
Association, past chairman of the Watertown Republican Town Committee, and a
member of the GOP state Central Committee. He
was mayoral appointee to the board of New Opportunities of Waterbury, vice
president and treasurer of the Waterbury NonProfit Corp., and established the
Waterbury Republican Campership Fund, which sends disadvantaged children to
summer camp.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Henry R. Allen, of Wethersfield; a
daughter, Miss Heather E, Allen, of New York City; a brother, John N. Allen, of
Kenosha; three sisters, J. P. Taylor, of Billings, Mont,, Mrs. John McLean, of
Albany, N.Y., and Mrs. Henry Brant, of New Milford; two grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.

The Hickeox-Mltehell Funeral Home, 195 Main St., was in charge of arrangements.
