Lawrence Allen, a pioneer resident of Winnebago county and a retired farmer, died at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday evening of general debility incident to old age. Mr. Allen was born in Edenderry, Kings County, Ireland, July 12, 1824, and was therefore eighty-three years and failing strength induced him to retire and he came to Oshkosh where he resided at 181 High street. He was a man of sturdy, honest character. His death was not unexpected as he had been confined to his bed for several days. He is survived by a wife and five grown-up children, two sons and three daughters, all of whom reside in Winnebago county, except one daughter, whose home is in North Dakota. Until her arrival the funeral arrangements can not be made.
