SANFORD – Frederic A. Allen, 82, of 21 Weymouth Street, died Friday at H.D. Goodall Hospital.
He was born in Sanford, July 9, 1897, son of Fred J. and Ida Leavitt Allen.
Allen was a retired building contractor. He was a 70-year member of the Sanford Unitarian Church and served as its sexton for 26 years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara McCrellis Allen of Wells; two sons, F. John Allen of Alfred and William Allen of Portland; three daughters, Betty Ann Dunham and Janice Woodman both of Sanford, and of Diane Dolan, of Springvale; a brother, Laurence C. Allen of Sanford; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Sanford Unitarian Church by the Rev. Fredric Muir. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Alfred.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 61 Main Street, Springvale.
