City internet cemetery records show cause of death as chloroform. Lot owned by G. L. Allen.

ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE MONDAY AFTERNOON
Mrs. Agnes Allen, living opposite the W. C. T. U. hospital on First avenue, while taking chloroform on Monday afternoon, took too much and died from, the effects about half past four the same afternoon. It was not known just what the cause of death was at the time she was discovered and it was necessary to hold a coroner's inquest, Coroner Norcross coming down this morning from Miller. Witnesses and a jury were summoned and the hearing was held at the Bower undertaking rooms at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon, the testimony giving out the following story: Mrs. Allen had been sick for a few days expecting confinement and had been using chloroform to relieve pain. Sunday she had purchased three ounces from Small's drug store and had used so much that her mother-in-law told her not to use more but while the mother: was at work Monday Mrs. Allen sent the boys for three more half ounce bottles. The young son says that she spilt some on her face while taking the last. When the mother arrived home about four o'clock the woman was in great pain but was so thoroughly under the influence of the drug that she could not be awakened and before a doctor could be secure she was dead. The jury rendered a verdict of death from an overdose of chloroform administered by her own hand. The husband of the unfortunate woman will arrive from Kansas today. Five young children are left in the care of the grandmother.
