A.L. Allen, 85, dies here Tuesday
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Newcomer Funeral home for Abraham Lincoln (Link) Allen, 85, who passed away at his home at 10:30 a.m. after an illness of 14 hours. Rev. J.C. Robertson, pastor of the Congregational church will officiate.
A pioneer business man of Brodhead, Mr. Allen was born April 27, 1859, in Spring Grove township, the son of Eliakim R. and Eliza Woodling Allen. He was married to Mary Catherine Zimmerman in 1893.
He was a farmer in his youth and operated a saw mill on the old homestead. In 1907, he moved to Brodhead and started an auto sales business, becoming the first Ford dealer in southwestern Wisconsin. Later he became a dealer for Buick and Chevrolet. In recent years he and his son, Chancey, operated a feed and machinery establishment, known as A.L. Allen and Son.
Survivors are his wife and son, Chancey, both of Brodhead.
One son, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He was the last of a family of eight children.
Nephews' acted as pallbearers.
Interment will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Spring Grove.
