A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015, at National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Those wishing to attend the graveside service should meet at 9:15 a.m. Monday morning at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, in order to leave at 9:30 a.m. for the cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Davenport.
Alan was born on April 10, 1932, in Moline, IL, the son of Russell and Pauline Nelson Allison. He married Gloria H. Ryker on November 29, 1951, in Moline, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 1998. He worked as a press operator for Deere & Co., retiring in 1986.
Alan was a veteran, having proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed woodworking and especially enjoyed camping and fishing in Bagley, WI. Alan was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 as well as Friend’s Circle.
Survivors include his children, Daniel (Debra) Allison, Eldridge, IA, Douglas (Amy) Allison, Moline, IL, and Suellen Brown, Moline, IL; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mary (Jerry) Nelson, Rock Island, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David; sister, Betty Scott.
