Captain A.A. Allison, one of the most widely known and best loved citizens of Gadsden, died Thursday morning at 3:30 o'clock. He had been gradually breaking down in health for years and for several months had been unable to be at his office. He suffered no lingering illness but gradually passed away. The death of Captain Allison has caused the profoundest sorrow in Gadsden.

He had reached the age of 69.

Captain Allison was born in Harris County, Ga. in 1837. He served in the Confederate army from beginning to end.

He is survived by a widow and five children.

Captain A.A. Allison, aged 69 years, died at his residence on Chestnut Street, this morning at 2 o'clock, after a lingering illness of several months.

Captain Allison has been a prominent figure in public life in this city for the past twenty years and was at the time of his death, a justice of the peace. He was born in Harris County, Georgia in 1837 and later moved to Macon County, Alabama. He was a brave Confederate soldier and served throughout the war and participated in many battles. Captain Allison was noted for his great kindness and courtesy to all and was a devoted Christian.

He is survived by his widow and the following grown children: P.E. Allison and F.R. Allison, Gadsden, G.A. Allison and C.H. Allison, Birmingham and Edgar Allison of Childersburg.

The funeral will take place from the First Methodist church at 10 o'clock Friday morning.

The funeral of Capt. A.A. Allison took place at the First Methodist Church Friday morning at 10 o'clock. The services were conducted by Rev. J.W. Newman and J.W. Dickinson. The interment was made in Forest cemetery.
