Katie A. Abbott, 93, of Johnson City, died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City, daughter of the late Arthur and Dora Clark Allison. Katie was a secretary at ETSU in the Department of Health. She was a longtime member of Tacoma Church of God, the Order of Eastern Star and the Lost State of Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John W. Abbott in 1965.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul and Toni Abbott and Tyler all of Johnson City; a brother, James Allison of Johnson City; two sisters, Christine Garst and her husband, Wilbur of Blountville and Mary Yohe of Port Washington, NY; a grandson, Landon Abbott of Johnson City.
There is a graveside service scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Monte Vista Memorial Park, under the direction of Rev. Gene Deaton. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: the American Diabetes Association Memorial and Honor Program, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
