Frederick was born in Germany and was just an infant in 1846 when he made the long voyage to New York from London with his parents Adam and Sophia (Piter) Allman and his seven siblings. They arrived in New York on 11 May 1846 via the ship "Switzerland." Frederick does not appear in the 1850 census with his family in Amherst, Erie County, New York which suggests that he died sometime between 1846 and 1850 while the family was living in New York.
