Jimmy Allman, 64, passed away April 7, 2012. Jimmy was born in Portsmouth, Virginia June 5, 1947 and was a 1965 graduate of Cradock High School. He attended Old Dominion University and Tidewater Community College. He was a local automobile wholesaler and past owner of Beach Auto Sales, Allman Cars, and Bay Bicycles. He was an avid boater and skippered many vessels, both power and sail. He was a founder of the long running Low Rent Regatta and sailed in the inaugural Worrell Brothers Regatta. As a young man he was an accomplished motor cross competitor. He was a loyal patron and fixture at Rudee's on the Inlet where he could be found in his usual seat next to the door.
He is predeceased by his mother, Joanna Owen Kinnison. He is survived by a son, Bailey James Allman and fiancée Ashley Dorey of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Katie Anne Wolff and son-in-law, Ian Wolff of Buena Vista, Colorado; a step father Allen O. Kinnison of Portsmouth; a brother, Charles Kinnison and sister-in-law Dianne Kinnison both of Suffolk.
A service in his memory will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at Lynnhaven Colony Congregational Church, 2217 W. Great Neck Rd. Va. Beach. A celebration in his honor will be held at Rudee's on the Inlet following the service. Memorial donations can be made to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 1108 E.
