Calvin Lewis "Ellis" Allman, 86, of Peachtree City, Georgia, died Friday, January 7, 2011. Born in Stocksville near Asheville, North Carolina, Calvin served in the Pacific during World War II. Thereafter he entered civil service attached to the 3rd United States Army. Calvin and Rhoda Shaw Allman, his wife of 44 years, attended Park Street Methodist Church in Atlanta, GA for many years before moving to Peachtree City in 1972. In 1980 Calvin retired but continued his previous volunteer work with the Boy Scouts in many capacities. Calvin was a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he served as a local club president and on the state Board of Governors. Calvin and Rhoda were members of the Friendship Force and charter members of First Baptist Church of Peachtree City, where Calvin served as a Deacon. Calvin was active in other civic affairs, including the Peachtree City Library and the Lion's Club Recycle for Sight program. Calvin's second wife was Patricia Gunnell Allman.

He was preceded in death by parents, Murray and Pearl Allman; wives, Rhoda Shaw Allman and Patricia Gunnell Allman; sisters, Faye Allman Morris and Dorothy Allman Lowman. He is survived by sons, David (Constance) Allman and Gary (Barbara) Allman; grandson, Daniel (Amy) Allman; sister, Emma Allman Rice; nieces, nephews, and beloved in-laws of 60 years.

Funeral service held on January 9 at First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. Interment at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Mowell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
