Mr. Charles S. Allmand died Monday night at his home on East Main Street, after a short illness, at the advanced age of 80 years. For a long time he was president of the Norfolk City Gas Company. He was an old member of the Cumberland Street M.E. Church, and at the time of his death was president of its official body. He leaves a widow. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Cumberland Street Church.

The funeral of Mr. Charles S. Allmand took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Cumberland Street Methodist Church, of which he was a member. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W.H. Atwill, and Rev. J.H. Riddick, a former pastor. The interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Captain J.T. Bolton, Frank Dusch, Captain E.V. White, W.N. Grubb, E.J. Whitehurst, Mr. Fletcher, W.J. Simmonds, and George W. Gilbert.
