Bruce Almas
Was born in Cloverdale B.C. on Feb. 21 1908 To Bruce & Francis Almas He was their second child. His young life was cut short on May 12th 1922 at age 14 when he was drowned when he fell into the local Serpentine river while fishing with his friends. He was buried in The Church Yard of The Surrey Center Cemetery. His parents being poor could only afford a wooden marker. The original Wooden grave marker has crumbled to dust since 1922 and was replaced by this wooden marker in 1969 Lovingly by his older brother Edward 1905-1995 (Parents buried in Lanley BC)
The Photo of young Bruce was taken in 1921 during the last summer of his young life. The photo of his grave and the cemetery were taken in Aug. 2002

Bruce also had a Great Uncle Pvt. William Almas Co.F 7th Michigan Vol. Inf. 1845-1863 Who was born in Ont. Canada but enlisted in the Union army during the Civil War of 1861-65 who was Killed in action on July 3rd 1863 at Getteysburg. PA. He is also listed here on Find A Grave
