Alvord
For the third time since December,
the family of John M. Alvord has
been afflicted in the death, on
Monday, Sept. 9, of the youngest
daughter, Mary. She had been from a
child the victim of rheumatism in the
joints, so that her life was apart
from the social activities in which
others mingled. Through the discipline
of twenty years she gained a
character of much individuality and
strength. She kept her pains and
disappointments to herself. She was
always ready to do what she could.
She read widely and intelligently.
She made herself essential to the
household by many practical ministries,
and by the quiet work of patience and
good will. The sympathies of many
friends are with the family thus
repeatedly bereaved.
