Alvord.
George R. Alvord, only son of Mr.
and Mrs. John M. Alvord, died at his
home in this place early Tuesday
morning, the 25th, of consumption,
after a lingering illness. He was 27
years old, and was born and always
lived in St. Johnsbury. Educated at
the public schools and graduating
from the. Academy in the class of '82,
he entered Fairbanks store and later
the scale works, where he worked
faithfully until last fall. Last
November he went to Denver, hoping to
be benefited by a change of climate,
but he came home two months ago,
somewhat the worse for the change.
Since then he has been steadily failing,
and was a great but patient sufferer
at the last. About five years
ago he married Minnie Ide, daughter
of Edward M. Ide of Washington,
and Mrs. Alvord and a beautiful little
girl survive him. Mr. Alvord was
a consistent member of the South
church, a faithful husband, and a
bright and promising young man.
