Mrs. Linnie Mae Jane King Ambrose, one of six children of the late Mary Tatum and Cornelius King was born at Pickens, Mississippi, on March 17, 1893.

She attended the elementary schools of Holmes County, and Alcorn, Rust and Jackson Colleges.

She was married to Professor D. W. Ambrose who preceded her in death and moved to Lexington in 1917, when her husband assumed the position as principal of the local high school. She later joined him as him as a member of the faculty and served well for forty-two years until her retirement a few years ago. Even after that she served as a substitute teacher when ever her service was needed.

Upon moving to Lexington, she joined the Epworth Methodist Church under the pastorate of the Reverend B. F. Woolfolk as a faithful member until her death, serving as superintendent of the Sunday School, as treasurer of the Church, as secretary of the Women's Society of Christian Service and of the Official Board.

Lexington has lost a useful citizen but our loss has been heaven's gain. She departed this life on December 3, 1967, at 3:15 a.m.

Mrs. Ambrose is survived by one stepdaughter, five stepsons, eight nephews, four nieces and a number of great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held from the sanctuary of Epworth United Methodist Church Wednesday, December 6, 1967, at 12:00 Noon, in Lexington, Mississippi.
