Anthony A. Amoros of Pomona, New York passed away with his family by his side Tuesday, January 29 at Nyack Hospital. He was 18. Anthony was born October 20, 1994 in New York City to Alberto and Ivis Amoros. He graduated from North Rockland High School "Class of 2012" where he was the recipient of scholarships from the National Latino Officers Association and from the New York State Corrections Department. He was currently attending his 1st year at Rockland Community College. He was a member of the Baseball and Basketball teams within the Police Athletic League. His Hobbies included snowboarding and his real love was working on cars and attending B.O.C.E.S for Automotive Services.

Anthony is survived by his loving parents Alberto and Ivis, his sister Lisa, brother Angelo and niece Juliana. He is also survived by his paternal grandmother Josephine Amoros, maternal grandmother Digna Ynguanzo, his uncles Arnold and his wife Betsy, David, Ivo and his wife Amparo, Aunts Ivonne, Josie and his many cousins and friends.

Anthony's visiting hours will be Saturday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Anthony's Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30am in St. Boniface Church, Wesley Hills. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.


Anthony Amoros of Country Club Lane was rounding a corner on northbound Thiells-Mount Ivy Road near the entrance of Philip J. Rotella Memorial Golf Course in Thiells when he lost control of his 2003 Mazda four-door sedan on icy pavement at 4:35 p.m. Monday, Police Chief Charles Miller said.

The car struck a tree, and Amoros suffered numerous injuries. He was taken to Nyack Hospital, where he died Tuesday.
