Rita Alvey, 85, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Angel River Health and Rehabilitation She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church Catholic Church in Newburgh, IN. She was employed at International Steel for 33 years and later at Michel & Krueger Co. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards. Rita is survived by her daughter Barbara Butler and husband Don, of Newburgh, sons Bill Alvey of Jasper, IN, and Brian Alvey and wife Beth of Taswell, IN, grandchildren, Kim Cecil, Kristi Kain, Scott Alvey, Courtney Adkins, and Ashley Jefferies, and Kade Meredith, great great grandchildren, Jonah and Clare Cecil, Megan, Dylan and Ryder Kain, Alyssa Alvey and Savannah Adkins.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, William in 2009 and granddaughter Erica Butler in 1976. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 23 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 925 Frame Rd., Newburgh, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 23 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ziliak officiating. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 4770 Covert Ave., #211, Evansville, IN 47714-5663.
