Arvin Ben Andersen, 81, Tyler died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Tyler Healthcare Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler, with Pastor David Christenson officiating.

Honorary casket bearers were Earl Petersen, Allen Lund, Mel Bornhoft, Kiar Nielsen, Craig Gifford and John Nibbe.

Casket bearers were Dale Christensen, Todd Christensen, Gregory Andersen, Lonny Andersen, Paul Koch and John Koch.

Military honors were provided by A.C. Hansen American Legion Post #185 of Tyler.

Interment was in Danebod Cemetery.

Arvin Ben Andersen was born Feb. 6, 1926 in Tyler to Andrew J. and Eva (Frederiksen) Andersen. He was baptized on Feb. 21, 1926 at Danebod Lutheran Church in Tyler and confirmed there on May 26, 1940. He attended District 44, a one-room school, through the eighth grade, and graduated from Tyler High School in 1943. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent time in the South Pacific, the Philippines, and Korea during WWII. When he returned home in 1946 he worked as a carpenter with his uncle, and enrolled in agriculture school. He then partnered with his father in farming southwest of Tyler.

In March of 1953 he married Lois Rasmusssen at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler and they brought a farm two miles from where he grew up.

He was a member of Danebod Lutheran Church, A.C. Hansen American Legion Post #185, and the Tyler Golf Club for many years and also bowled in both men's and couple's leagues for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lois; his children, Tim, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Peggy (Brad) Wilmes, Tyler; Philip (Laura), Eden Prairie and Arica (Chad) Kulm, Sioux Falls, S.D.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Christensen, Tyler; Donna (Dennis) Koch, Dike, Iowa and Valborg Pace, Livermore, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kent; brothers, Kenneth and Norville and sister, Valdonna.
