Margo grew up in the St. Louis area and attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL where she obtained a B.A. in Business after switching from a Music major(she played piano). She took teaching related graduate courses later at the University of Maryland.

Margo's husband was a Foreign Service Officer whose career took their family all over the world including living in South Africa, Bangkok, Singapore and Berlin. While overseas she was actively involved with the Foreign Service in community activities. She was a founder of the American School in Singapore and taught fifth and sixth grade classes. She helped start a school for Chinese women to learn home economics and domestic skills and a school that taught Chinese children to read. While in West Berlin, Margo was the president of the American Women's Club, chaired the American Red Cross Grey Ladies and organized and taught English and American customs to German war brides. In addition, she chaired the "Conference of American Women's Activities in Germany" held in Wiesbaden.

After moving back to Maryland, she continued teaching and also worked as a legal secretary. Margo was widowed in 1964 and continued to live in Kensington.

She was a free spirit who loved nature, classical music, her pets and road trips to the Southwest.

She is survived by her daughter, son, sister, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her cat Feather. She was pre-deceased by her husband William and son Michael and her companion John Reilly.
