Mr. Richard Lee Anderson, age 76, Vidalia, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, in the Veterans Administration Hospital of Augusta after a brief illness.

He was a native of New Wilmington, Penn., residing for many years in Atlanta and Savannah and later moving to Vidalia. He was a retired insurance agent, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Vidalia American Legion Post 97, First Baptist Church of Vidalia and Men's Bible Class.

Survivors include his wife, Faye C. Anderson, Vidalia; two daughters, Debra Hiers, Dodge City, Kansas, and Laura L. Andrews, Arlington, Texas; two sons, Terry L. Anderson, Peachtree City, and Richard J. Anderson, Bountiful, Utah; two step-daughters, Mary W. Thompson, Vidalia, and Brenda Helms, Lyons; one step-son, Dewey Ray Whitaker, Jr., Brooklet, Georgia; one sister, Myrna Anderson, New Wilmington; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 17, 2004, at 3:00 p.m. in the Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia with Rev. Bucky Kennedy and Rev. Don Moye officiating. Interment followed with full military honors in Pinecrest Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were James Lester, George King, Dr. A.J. Morris, James Stovall, Joe Blaxton, Ezra Aaron and A.J. Albrintton. Honorary pallbearers were Vidalia First Baptist Church Men's Bible Class.
