She was a native of Tattnall County, and lived in Vidalia most of her life. She was employed with Piggly Wiggly Southern in the personnel department for several years, and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections in Reidsville.
She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by a step-son, Jason Anderson; her mother, Janie Ruth Overstreet Purcell; her father, Reedy Beasley Purcell, Jr.; and a brother, Henry Purcell.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Jerry L. Anderson of Vidalia; two sons, Brandon Hamilton of Vidalia, and Chase Dees of Athens; two step-sons, Bobby Dees of Ladies Island, South Carolina, and Garrett Anderson of Eatonton; four sisters, Janice Collins of Atlanta, Martha Gresham and husband Jerry of Newnan, Karen Clark and husband Billy of Higgston, and Melinda Yates of Metter; one brother, Larry Purcell and wife Judy of Metter; five grandchildren, Cody, Madison, Austin, Mallory, and Jacob; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21st at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Robert Long officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Georgia Chapter, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, Georgia 30346.
